After two or three days of noodling with mediocre thumbnails, I was able to whip out a much more compelling composition in 5 minutes today... so I'm just rolling with the punches at this point.
This piece will be my submission for the 2011 Illustration Academy Call for Portfolios scholarship. This is an image of a woman calling the birds and wildlife into the forest (or her dress) in stormy weather. I'm looking at N.C. Wyeth and Howard Pyle for inspiration. The final will be painted in oils.
